there’s Sue, Naomi, heather, Monique, so 4 people work there as far as i kno lol. today i re-arranged the shop, made 5-10 boxes with flowers in them, cleaned, made tea n hot chocolate, up-packed flowers, got an order, and got some Styrofoam boxes for a wedding on Friday. working at the florist is great fun and i love it
Day 4-
Sue got to be a florist buy doing work experience at a florist ten getting a job and doing her apprenticeship. today i helped out with unpacking flowers for a wedding, made a cup of tea, stamped flyers, envelopes and gift cards, filled the vases with fresh water, made signs for the shop and laminated, delivered flowers, got lunch for Sue and Naomi, dropped off work tops to get the logo embroidered, vacuumed and swept. my experience so far has been really fun.
Day 5:
Today the florist was doing flowers for two weddings and a funeral, so i got to do a couple of things to help them. i made sue a cup of coffee to help her along, started up a rife, i unpacked two buckets of flowers and put them in fresh water, cleaned leaves of the plants Sue and Naomi were using for button holes. I vacuumed, swept, cleaned out the buckets and vases, got Sue and Naomi lunch, made a box of flowers and three bouquets and i also laminated a couple of cards for the funural.
when i think of it i reckon school is more tiring because when your at school you have to write every time your in class unless its computers, you have to walk to every class and memories things that you have learnt that day for test and exams but then again i think school is more interesting even though its tiring because you learn about the world around you and learn about people your around everyday and with work you don’t really learn anything other then work related and just doing and learning the same thing every day of your time working there. School is interesting, tiring buts its also difficult because you have your teachers, and students to keep up with and sometimes you just dont want to put up with the students wining and yelling and plus the teacher do go on and on for like weeks or months and its not different parts of the subject its the same thing and you just loose interest, you have to study and write notes, do oral presentations and you need an explanation that the school is going to believe to pull a sick one…hehe. I would definitely consider being a florist if nothing else works out so i would have to do a apprenticeship, do college/tafe and uni then try and get a job at a florist to expand your experience and skills. the best thing about the whole week was just being able to do the things i got to do i worked with really nice people i learnt new things and had a fun time and if i could do it again i would jump at the chance. The worst aspect was well i cant think of any but getting bleach on my jumper yesterday then having to walk around all day with a big brown patch on my jumper. i had allot of fun work at the florist and im considering it as a back-up for a carrer
