Work Exp @ Numurkah Explained

Year 10

At Numurkah Secondary College Year 10 students participate in a week of work experience as part of their ‘Careers’ subject. This normally takes place during Term 2.

Mrs Scadden, the College’s Careers Advisor works closely with students to explore skills, interests and personality type to establish ideas for a work experience placement.  This is what we call a MIPS (Managed Individual Pathways) plan.

Students use the Shepparton Work Experience blog to help locate placements and find all other relevant information for work experience.

This blog (Careers@Numurkah) is designed as a social networking tool to enable students to record their experiences whilst on placement – alternatively students complete a written journal.  All content is monitored by Mrs Scadden.

Year 11 & 12

Senior students are encouraged to build their resumes and work skills by organising placements during school holidays (not the Christmas break however).  Mrs Scadden is happy to discuss placements with students and is readily available during recess or lunch.
